Fred: I have been working on my thoughts for the conference and they have changed substantially from my earlier inclinations. I will be speaking on some issues related to Martha Nussbaum's notions of moral philosophy and the active, principled socio-political development of societies. Her concepts are conceptually related to some ideas in child development which are, in turn, at least metaphorically related to issues in nonlinear dynamics and form. My topic is topical because of the current political scene, nonlinear in that is draws upon my somewhat idiosyncratic emphasis on control and order parameters, levels of analysis, and emphasis on transition dynamics, and so forth. I can be 20 to 60 min depending on what you want to have fit. It could generate a lot of discussion insofar as people may want to talk about how and whether one can create a society that actually makes life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness possible and is self-recreating, and yet is individually self organized and ethically driven. Interesting stuff, to me anyway.
